Gladys Ranshaw celebrated her 103rd Birthday at Toray Pines Care Home in Coningsby, on Monday 29th May 2023, surrounded by her loving family and friends at the home.
Before Gladys’ special day, the fabulous team at the home had asked the community to help them reach their target of 103 birthday flowers, to mark each of Gladys extraordinary 103 years. The local community supported Toray Pines in wishing her a Happy Birthday.
Gladys’ son John and his wife Carolyn joined the celebration. John posted a thank you on Facebook saying ‘A big, big thank you to everyone at Toray Pines who made Mum’s 103yrs Birthday so special. Beautiful flowers, cards, presents and a magnificent cake with 103 miniature flowers!’
When her birthday arrived, Gladys was delighted to receive many floral gifts from all over the world incluidng, Birmingham, and Australia. Gladys enjoyed a fabulous day, including the most stunning birthday cake, baked and decorated by Head Chef Mandy, which included 103 flowers made from icing.
Home Manager Sherin Kandi said, “Gladys has been living at Toray Pines for over 22 years and has spent many birthdays with us. She is a much-loved resident who enjoys a party and loves listening to music. It is an honour and a privilege to be part of her special day – she is wonderful.”
Activities Coordinator Kim Poppa said ‘Last year we managed to get over 102 cards for Gladys’ 102nd birthday, so had to try something different this year. We put a post out on our Facebook page and Gladys received flowers, roses chocolates, a hand stitched flower card, a handmade gem card and coaster, flower scented hand cream, plants, a paper bouquet, a new top, a personalised vase, and a personalised balloon. Gladys is amazing and it’s a joy to do these special things for our residents.’
We would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone that contributed to Gladys’ day.
