Residents and staff at Sleaford Hall Care Home were thrilled to welcome Terena and some of her wonderful animal friends from Northcote’s Heavy Horse Sanctuary into our home. Accompanying Terena were Brian and Connie, two adorable Felabella horses, known to be among the world’s smallest horse breeds, as well as Racoon and Merry, a pair of delightful and friendly ferrets.
This was a special occasion for Brian and Connie, as it marked their first-ever visit to a care home. They made a fantastic impression, with Connie showing courage by venturing into the lift to visit residents on the first floor. Everyone had the chance to pet the tiny horses and share hugs with the lovable ferrets, who brought smiles all around with their gentle and sociable nature.
Terena captivated us with stories about the animals and shared how they came to be cared for at the sanctuary. Based near Skegness, Northcote’s Heavy Horse Sanctuary is a haven for animals and is open to the public. The sanctuary operates entirely on donations and is run by a dedicated team of unpaid volunteers, whose love and care make it all possible.
The visit was truly memorable, and we’re already looking forward to visiting the sanctuary next summer when the weather is warmer. A huge thank you to Terena and her team for their time and for bringing so much joy to our home!
