A couple of weeks ago, team members from Beeston Rise Care Home, alongside colleagues from Trent Bridge Care Home, participated in the CEO Sleepout UK Nottingham at Notts County Football Club. The event offered participants a humbling experience, spending a night under the stars to raise awareness and funds for homelessness.
While one night cannot fully replicate the challenges faced by those living on the streets, it served as a stark reminder of the struggles many endure daily. The event also shone a light on the vital work of local charities such as The Friary and Emmanuel House Support Centre, which provide crucial support to Nottingham’s homeless community.
Thanks to the generosity of donors, an incredible £51,000 was raised during the event. These funds will go directly toward initiatives like Emmanuel House’s Winter Housing project, offering a warm and safe space for individuals in need during the colder months.
Throughout the night, the Beeston Rise team connected with inspiring individuals, including CEO Sleepout’s Hen MacEwen, Nottingham’s Ambassador Deborah Labatte, Lord-Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire Professor Veronica Pickering, and lived-experience speaker Wes Milligan.
Participating in an event addressing such a pressing local issue was an honour for the team, who were proud to contribute to the cause. Beeston Rise expressed gratitude to official partners Notts County and Notts County Foundation for hosting the event and looks forward to future opportunities to support the community.
A heartfelt congratulations goes out to all six team members from Beeston Rise and Trent Bridge who took part in this meaningful initiative. Their compassion and dedication make a real difference in the lives of others.
