Spreading warmth at Avocet House

Last year, in one of our residents meetings, the residents of Holbeach Meadows said they would love a fireworks display. Sadly, with the health and safety hoops we have to go through, we were not able to make this happen in time for early November last year. So this year we were all systems go, lots of planning ahead, and thanks to the support of our CEO Daniel, who has as much passion for seeing wishes granted as we do, we were able to make this a reality!
We wanted to go big and make this something we could share with our neighbours and local community.
On 7th November, we had a number of our residents wrap up warm and take front row seats for our display outside while the rest had a great view from our lounges inside! We had an absolutely amazing response from our local community too, with so many coming out to support our event! The street was packed with hundreds of people, comments were made about what a lovely community feel the evening had, and how nice it was to all come together.
The event was supported by several local businesses, Wase Wagon, who parked up in our car park and provided 2hrs of non stop food service to those who came along to watch the fireworks, Fireworks 4 You, who sourced and supported us with our fireworks and Ashwood Homes who gave us permission to use their land adjacent to our home!
We were so grateful to our amazing team, both those who were on shift and those who came in on their days off with their own families, for helping and supporting the residents to go outside to watch the display and soak up the atmosphere, and to our resident’s fantastic families for their ongoing support to the home.
After the fireworks, the residents gathered inside the home with their families and our team to warm up and enjoy hot chocolate and ginger cake!
The feedback from the community on the evening has been phenomenal! Most importantly our residents had the most fantastic evening, they have said it was ‘the best they have ever seen’, ‘absolutely fantastic’, ‘an incredible display’, ‘beautiful’, ‘superb’ and ‘the most wonderful evening’ to detail but a few of the comments we had!
