Key Responsibilities
Cleaning:
To assist with the daily housekeeping requirements of the care home.
Ensure odour management is a priority.
Daily Cleaning:
· Empty waste bins and wipe out
· Vacuum throughout
· Shake out cushions
· Clean dining rooms / lounges / lavatories
· Clean taps and sinks
· Clean soap dishes
· Clean toothbrush holders
· Spot clean all floorings
Weekly Cleaning:
· Polish all mirrors
· Clean all pipe work in lavatories
· Dust handrails and radiators
· Move all mobile furniture (including beds and chairs)
· Vacuum and dust beneath / behind all furniture
· Wash out metal wastepaper bins
· Dust and polish furniture and windowsills
Week One: Dust light bulbs and fittings
Week Two: Dust curtain rails
Week Three: Dust pictures
Week Four: En-suites – remove seat cushions and vacuum/clear out. Restock toiletries, soaps, towels etc. as and when required.
Laundry:
Sort washing into relevant groups, where applicable and process it through the washer, dryer and iron. Keep clean and dirty linen separate within the laundry area.
Prioritise laundry to suits the needs of the home, departments and the residents. Return the care home’s washing to the linen cupboard and the kitchen.
Clothes that are not marked should be reported to the Registered Manager and reasonable efforts made to ensure the item is returned to its rightful owner (and named).
Carpets / Floor:
Carpets throughout the home to be maintained in good order and of good appearance.
Carpets to be cleaned as and when required to assist in the care homes control of odour.
Hard floor throughout the care home to be cleaned daily and maintained in a good and clean condition.
Communication:
Participate in staff and client meetings as required.
Training and Development:
Attend mandatory training days / courses on or off site as and when required.
Maintain professional knowledge and competence.
General:
Promote and ensure the good reputation of the care home.
Ensure that all information of confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties.
Notify the Head Housekeeper, or the person in charge, as soon as possible of your inability to report for duty, also on your return to work from all periods of absence.
Ensure the security of the care home is maintained at all times.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained.
Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you.
To be up-to-date with the company staff hand book.
