Cedar Falls rings in Chinese New Year with a snake parade

Cedar Falls residents were treated to a delightful celebration as the Care Home embraced the Chinese New Year. This year marked the Year of the Snake, and Lifestyles Coordinator Jenny had a creative idea that transformed the day into a memorable occasion, brimming with laughter and excitement.

With the enthusiastic support of team members Melissa and Alicia, Jenny’s vision unfolded as they worked on a gigantic snake, bringing energy and a playful spirit to the corridors of Cedar Falls. Over several weeks, portions of the snake were meticulously crafted, turning a whimsical concept into a reality that excited both residents and staff alike. Their efforts led to the thrilling moment when the vibrant snake “slithered” through the home on Chinese New Year Day, delighting the residents who joined in the joyous celebrations.

For lunch, Cedar Falls prepared a delicious Chinese feast, crafted with love by the dedicated kitchen team. Residents savoured an array of authentic dishes that tantalized their taste buds. The afternoon continued with an engaging quiz and lively music, creating an atmosphere of joy and community.

The day was nothing short of a celebration, filled with smiles, laughter, and a sense of togetherness. The Chinese New Year festivities encapsulated the spirit of Cedar Falls, bringing warmth and happiness to all who call this care home their home.
