Ruth, born and raised in Leeds, has lived a full and inspiring life. She attended Cold Coats School and later night school to master touch typing, which launched her into a successful career. After starting at the Yorkshire Post, she moved on to office roles at Andrews and eventually became a Credit Manager at Burton’s Finance, a role she truly loved.
As the eldest of four children, Ruth shared a close bond with her parents, Rose Anne and Charlie, and her siblings, Charlie, David, and Norma, all of whom have sadly passed away. Family has always been at the heart of Ruth’s life.
Ruth married Jack and had one daughter, Jackie, but when the marriage ended, Ruth and Jackie moved in with her parents, allowing Ruth to continue her career. In 1983, she found love again with her partner Roy, and the two built a happy life together. After retiring at 58, Ruth and Roy relocated to Lincolnshire to be closer to Jackie. She now treasures her time with her grandson James, who she absolutely adores.
Ruth has always been family-oriented and keeps cherished photos in her room, often reminiscing about her loved ones. A warm and affectionate person, she frequently shares hugs with the staff at Sandpiper Care Home, where she is much loved.
On December 4, 2024, Ruth celebrated her 90th birthday with a lively party at Sandpiper Care Home. Surrounded by family, friends, and staff, she enjoyed a wonderful buffet and entertainment provided by Joanne, a Senior Care Assistant at Sandpiper. Ruth danced, laughed, and even joined in on karaoke, making the day truly unforgettable.
It was a fitting celebration for a remarkable woman who continues to touch the lives of everyone around her.
