Festive cheer at Abbey Wood Lodge: A December to remember!

This December has been a truly magical time at Abbey Wood Lodge, filled with creativity, laughter, and holiday joy.

We began the season with a delightful wreath-making workshop. Residents and team members crafted beautiful designs using an array of festive accessories, including pine cones, cinnamon sticks, orange slices, and lush pine foliage. The room was alive with the scents of Christmas, and the wreaths now proudly adorn bedroom doors throughout the home, spreading holiday cheer.

Our decorating didn’t stop there! Together, we put up Christmas trees while singing along to festive tunes, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere.

Christmas Jumper Day was another highlight, with residents and the team donning colorful, sparkly, and even light-up jumpers that brightened everyone’s day.

Festive treats were a big part of our celebrations. At our Hot Chocolate Workshops, we indulged in seasonal flavors, topping our creations with whipped cream, sprinkles, mini gingerbread men, and candy canes. Mince pies and mulled wine added to the holiday flavors, while Baking Club created a stunning Christmas cake for the Tanglewood Christmas Cake Competition. The ladies worked tirelessly to bake, ice, and decorate the cake, which was a big hit at our Christmas bingo afternoon.

Entertainment has been in abundance this month. A local school choir brought the magic of caroling to our home with their beautiful voices, while a lively Christmas quiz afternoon had us in fits of laughter with clever team names and some healthy competition. A standout moment was our Christmas show, performed by the talented Lucy Wareing. Dressed in a festive red dress, Lucy had us singing and dancing to classic holiday songs, leaving everyone in high spirits.
