This week GoGro CIC visited Cloverleaf Care Home to deliver an innovative project focused on nostalgic cooking.
Residents created dishes from their childhood to help stimulate their senses and to bring back memories. The residents chose to cook liver and onions with mash, a traditional trifle, and a treacle tart with custard.
Eamon and Rob commented ‘We really enjoyed delivering two nostalgic cookery sessions with the wonderful residents and staff at Cloverleaf in Lincoln yesterday! We are seeing so many benefits already – the benefits that nostalgia has on individuals with Dementia is fascinating, the improvements to people’s mental health and wellbeing is also obvious to see – we’re looking forward to seeing what happens as we progress! Thank you to everyone at Cloverleaf, we had a wonderful time with your residents yesterday- your staff are amazing too, so positive and amazing support to our attendees, we can’t wait for our next visit and also thank you to Shine Lincolnshire for funding this through their Innovation Fund. Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Lincolnshire County Council.’
One team member commented, ‘What a brilliant day, such an amazing atmosphere. I feel very lucky to be apart of these sessions and see the excitement and happiness on the residents faces. You’ve made such a difference. Thank you to Eamon and Rob, we can’t wait to welcome you back to Cloverleaf.
