Family Members, Alison and David have shared their heartfelt gratitude for the dedicated care and outstanding support their mother, Patsy, received while residing at Humberston House. Patsy joined our home as an emergency admission in December 2023, becoming the 8th resident to grace our beautiful community.
Patsy was a remarkable woman with a vibrant character and a deep love of wildlife. She especially cherished visits from her dog, who often accompanied her devoted husband, Joe. In her memory, her daughter Alison has donated a bird table to the community Patsy so dearly loved, creating a treasured and lasting tribute.
During her time with us, Patsy enthusiastically participated in various activities, from our Virtual Cruise and Mad Hatter’s Tea Party to our Charlie and the Chocolate Factory event. A lover of music, she enjoyed singing along with visiting choirs and guest performers. Her incredible quiz skills often saw her winning our weekly quiz challenges!
Team Leader Nikki fondly recalls a moment that perfectly captured Patsy’s independence and humour. One day, a can of 7-Up mysteriously appeared on her table, and none of the staff knew how it got there, until they realised Patsy had helped herself, determined as ever!
Another cherished memory was her cheeky sense of humour. After staff completed her personal care, Patsy often quipped, “You can bugger off now!” leaving everyone laughing and smiling alongside her.
As a token of their appreciation, Alison and David have kindly given a gift to every member of staff for the role they played in Patsy’s care, recognising their dedication and support in all aspects of her time with us.
Patsy’s warmth, wit, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all at Humberston House. Her memory will forever be a part of our community, and we are grateful to Alison and David for their kind words, thoughtful gesture, and treasured tribute.
