Last month at Holbeach Meadows, we were thrilled to welcome our new pet therapy team. Lisa introduced us to her beautiful golden retrievers, Jessie and Freddie, who will visit us every other week. These lovely dogs adore attention, and we are more than happy to provide it! Lisa takes them around the entire home, visiting residents in their rooms and the lounges. A big thank you to Pets as Therapy for facilitating this wonderful introduction!
Holbeach Meadows residents were also delighted to host the local Rainbows for their weekly meeting to assist with a project. The Rainbows have been working on their ‘Make Change’ badge this term, and our residents eagerly joined in to plant cups of kindness. The young girls decorated cups with pens, crayons, and stickers, with help from the residents, and then filled them with soil and seeds. They ended the evening with a performance of nursery rhymes and a special rendition of Happy Birthday for our lovely Sue!
We celebrated the 1940s on VE Day at Holbeach Meadows with vintage attire, a decade-themed menu, and a display of vintage tractors. This sparked fascinating reminiscing and discussions about the local farming industry and the land army. Residents enjoyed a DVD about life in the 40s, which brought back many childhood and early adult memories. The evening concluded with wonderful entertainment from the lovely Bethan and a fun quiz.
