On the 8th of March 2023, residents of Holbeach Meadows celebrated International Women’s Day. A global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day is also marking a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.
International women’s day has occurred for over a century, starting in 1911 and now support by millions all over the world.
To celebrate the special day, the residents of Holbeach Meadows paid tribute to those inspirational ladies that have made a difference in their lives.
One resident paid tribute to the late Queen stating, ‘The Queen always listened to people and never discussed people with others.’
Another paid tribute to Florence Nightingale ‘because of the medicine and care she introduced.’
One resident said ‘Margaret Thatcher inspired me because she stood her ground. Because she kept to her word.’
One of our male residents paid tribute to his mother stating, ‘My mother inspired me because she was a Colonel in World War II and a sister and then a matron at Holbeach hospital.’
Here at Holbeach we spent the day discussing those women who have made a real impact in our lives, who have inspired us and shown the true strength of women everywhere.
