Joyce Elliot, a remarkable woman and local legend, has officially become the first resident of Mount Croft. Born and raised in Bromsgrove during the 1930s, Joyce has deep roots in the community. Throughout her youth, she dedicated her time to working in the Brighton Shoe Shop on Bromsgrove High Street, where her warm smile left an everlasting impression on customers.
In 1949, Joyce’s life took a lovely turn when she met her husband, Maurice. After a whirlwind romance, they were happily married in just six months and went on to have two wonderful children, Sally and Peter. As her children grew older, Joyce ventured back into the workforce, transitioning to hospitality. With her natural flair for attention and care, she became a head waitress adored in the Bromsgrove area for her outstanding service.
Life presented Joyce with challenges as she faced the loss of her husband at a young age. However, her strength shone through. She continued to work diligently to provide joy and stability for her family.
Joyce later found happiness working at the Westmead Hotel, where fate introduced her to James, its owner. Their shared experiences of love and loss cultivated a deep bond between them. Together, they enjoyed life, traveling extensively after selling the hotel.
When the time came for Joyce to return to their shared hometown, her desire to be close to family grew stronger after James’s unexpected passing.
Today, Joyce is eager to begin this exciting new chapter at Mount Croft, excited for shopping excursions and enriching conversations with her new neighbours. The future is bright, and there’s so much joy to come for Joyce in her new home.
