Lorraine’s 100km walk raises funds for Marie Curie!

Celebrating Success at Avocet House!

Avocet House proudly announces the remarkable achievement of its dedicated activity coordinator, Lorraine, who has successfully completed a breathtaking 100km dog walking challenge alongside her spirited Black Labrador, Diesel. This incredible feat took place throughout February and highlighted not only Lorraine’s determination but also her love for furry friends and the great outdoors.

Despite facing challenges such as freezing temperatures, a brief illness, and unexpected travel commitments, Lorraine persevered. Each step taken led to new discoveries in the local landscape—beautiful terrains that sparkled with potential and joy. Lorraine was motivated by something even greater: the heartfelt need to support Marie Curie end-of-life care services, a cause very close to her heart. Thanks to her tireless efforts and the generosity of the Avocet House community, Lorraine exceeded her goal, raising an impressive £205, which surpassed her initial target of £150.

The challenge would not have been possible without the outpouring of support and encouragement from residents, staff, and loved ones. They rallied behind Lorraine and Diesel every step of the way, demonstrating the strong relationships cultivated at Avocet House.
