On Sunday 16th July Meadows ParkĀ celebrated national ice cream day.
We made an ice cream trolley and played ice cream truck jingles so that the residents could hear us coming down the corridors.
When the residents heard the sounds of ice cream van it was a chance to reminsice on previous summers spent with family and loved ones.
One resident commented ‘Hearing the ice cream van music, it reminded me of the ice cream truck that used to park outside my house daily.’
Another resdient commented, ‘I used to pick my grandchildren up from school and we would stop at the ice cream van on the way home.’
Sue one of our residents even arranged the residents in a queue as soon as she saw the ice cream trolley on its way. We offered them a choice of ice cream with chocolate or strawberry sauce and strawberry splits.
Jenny another resident said, ‘It was a real treat as i was watching the Wimbledon finals.’
We also offered the ice cream to any relatives visiting and Don’s wife Mary said it was a nice treat that they enjoyed together.
Meadows Park Care Home is currently welcoming new residents, providing 24 hour residential and dementia care.
