On the 27th June, the children from Humberston Cloverfields Academy visited Humberston House Care Home to plant trees in our gardens. They chose cherry blossoms and a weeping willow to represent the communities we have open, and they even named each tree after these communities.
Planting trees at a care home offers numerous benefits, enhancing both the physical environment and the well-being of residents.
Nature has a calming effect, reducing stress and anxiety. The presence of trees can provide a sense of peace and tranquility, benefiting residents’ mental well-being.
Involving the local school fostered a sense of community and connection, providing residents with opportunities for social interaction and intergenerational activities.
Gardening and interacting with nature have therapeutic effects, often used in horticultural therapy to improve mood, cognitive function, and overall quality of life.
Overall, planting trees at a care home enriches the environment, supports residents’ health and well-being, and strengthens community ties.
The school children planted the trees with care and then delighted us with a song. Their visit brought joy to everyone, and the trees will stand as a lasting reminder of this special day.
