On the 30th of August, Humberston House Care Home came alive with joy and excitement as we celebrated National Beach Day in grand style, bringing the seaside right to our doorstep! Residents, their families, and friends gathered for a fun-filled day that was bursting with sunshine, laughter, and a wave of nostalgia.
The day kicked off with a hearty seaside favourite, traditional fish and chips. The aroma filled the air, evoking memories of long, sunny days by the shore. The meal was, of course, followed by delicious sweet treats like classic British ice cream and fluffy candy floss, transporting everyone back to their fondest beachside memories.
But it wasn’t just the food that made the day special. The courtyard was transformed into a playful beach setting where everyone could join in on the fun! Residents and visitors rolled up their sleeves and got creative, building impressive sandcastles that would make any beach-goer proud. Some took part in a lively game of beach ball, while others enjoyed a refreshing paddle in our pop-up pool, bringing the joy of the sea closer to home.
The laughter and chatter filled the air, with everyone soaking up the relaxed and festive atmosphere. As the afternoon wore on, the perfect finale came in the form of a traditional Punch & Judy show. This age-old seaside entertainment delighted both the young and the young at heart. With Mr. Punch’s hilarious antics and colorful puppets, there was no shortage of giggles and wide smiles throughout the crowd.
It was truly a day to remember—one that brought together family, friends, and our wonderful community to create new memories while reminiscing about old ones. National Beach Day at Humberston House was a resounding success, leaving everyone with warm hearts and sun-kissed smiles. We can’t wait to do it all over again next year!
