Sandpipers’ resident superstar gardener, Norman is a regular in our Facebook posts in the garden. A Lincolnshire lad, Norman has been farming man and boy, but a lifetime of hard work was not enough. A lifetime of graft and yet Norman can still be found tending to ‘his’ garden. Norman grew up in Hagworthingham on a small holding farm with his family, it was here his love of gardening was born, Norman continued working on farms throughout his life.
Norman moved to Skendleby whilst his two children were growing up, he used to love visiting the picture house at Spilsby for many years before it closed down.
Norman retired at the age of 60 from his farming life but that did not stop his enjoyment of the outside, he continued to remain active and put all his time and effort into his own garden.
Norman came to live at Sandpiper in 2021 where he remains a very active gentleman, he has his own greenhouse and vegetable plot, he enjoys watering the plants morning, noon, and night. So, any green fingered enthusiasts in the Alford area please feel free to come for a visit to see the amazing work Norman has done in the garden, maybe even give him a hand.
Sandpiper located in Alford provides 24 hour residential and dementia care.
