Tanglewood sowing the seed for refugees’

With the war in Ukraine still at the forefront of many news stories Tanglewood Care Home, Horncastle decided they want to help. The homes residents joined in with the 2023 Grantham sunflower challenge.

The choice was made as this year the sunflower challenge was to raise money to assist the victims of the war in Ukraine. With Lincolnshire having housed over 2000 Ukrainian refugees, and the East of England only behind the Southeast in their kindness in accepting refugees into their homes and communities it only felt right for many residents and staff to do their part.

With the excellent growing conditions in only a couple of short months some of our sunflowers are towering over residents who have taken a keen interest in watching them grow. The challenge gave a great focus to new residents such as Pauline who was never shy in letting the team know that the flowers needed care and attention.
