Residents at Holbeach Meadows had requested a talk on wildlife at one of their residents’ meetings, so on Thursday we welcomed Lucy from Wild Things Rescue to the home.
Wild Things Rescue are a charity, run by volunteers, who rescue and rehabilitate wildlife in Lincolnshire. Lucy came along gave a presentation in the cinema to explain the charity’s work to the residents. She described how they had taken in almost 1000 animals last year, with the most common being hedgehogs, pigeons, and ducklings. The animals are fed and cared for by the charity’s volunteers, some of whom rear the baby animals from home, as they need feeding every two hours day and night.
The residents thoroughly enjoyed the talk and found it very interesting, they had lots of questions for Lucy about the animals the charity works with. She gave us some advice as to how we can attract more wildlife into our garden, and, after her presentation, some of the residents joined Lucy in making some enormous pinecone bird feeders that are now hanging in our garden!
