We were delighted to learn from York Manor resident Lily’s family about the annual Christmas Cheer Party held at the York Assembly Rooms, organised by the Mayor of York. Having attended for many years, this event holds a special place in Lily’s heart, so we applied for tickets and were thrilled to secure a spot!
On the morning of Tuesday, 3rd December, Tina, our Lifestyle Assistant, accompanied Lily on a festive trip to York. Upon arrival, Lily was warmly greeted by many familiar faces, with lots of smiles, hugs, and cheerful conversations.
Once settled, we enjoyed a delightful cup of tea alongside sandwiches and mince pies. The festivities began with the Town Crier announcing the arrival of the Mayor of York and her team. The celebration continued with a heartwarming performance of carols by children from Clifton Green Primary School, followed by a stunning rendition of Christmas classics by the Shepherd Brass Band, their music echoing beautifully in the grand Assembly Rooms.
After pulling crackers and eagerly checking our Christmas raffle tickets, the day ended on a high note with a lively carol singalong.
Lily had a truly wonderful time and expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity to be part of such a special tradition.
